SUMMARY: Transports packaged or liquid materials from manufacturing facility to specified destination.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Drives truck to transport materials in liquid or packaged form to specified destination(s).
  • Verifies load against shipping papers.
  • Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area.
  • Prepares receipts for load picked up.
  • Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
  • May load or unload truck.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
  • May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.
  • Drives truck or tractor at vehicle parking or docking area to move, position, or parks trucks or trailers.
  • Positions loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading.
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using forklift, hand-truck, dolly or other devise.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination using designated equipment.
  • Identifies non-conforming shipments and dispoisitions in accordance with QS-9000 standards
  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands, using banding machine and clincher.
  • Could potentially handle hazardous waste in containerizing, transporting, testing, or other assigned duties.
  • Any other tasks as required to fulfill Lincoln Industries' Beliefs and Drivers.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Expected: Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, or certificate; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
  • Must verify shipping documentation and communicate verbally with customers, dock personnel, etc.
  • Must be able to read road signs and follow destination maps.

Other Skills:

  • Corrected vision and dexterous use of both hands.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit continuously for up to 2 ½ hours.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend road maps.
  • Licenses: May need a valid CDL – class A license (depends on assignment). Must possess of a valid Driver’s License.
