SUMMARY: Transports packaged or liquid materials from manufacturing facility to specified destination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Drives truck to transport materials in liquid or packaged form to specified destination(s).
- Verifies load against shipping papers.
- Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area.
- Prepares receipts for load picked up.
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- May load or unload truck.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.
- Drives truck or tractor at vehicle parking or docking area to move, position, or parks trucks or trailers.
- Positions loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading.
- Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
- Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using forklift, hand-truck, dolly or other devise.
- Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination using designated equipment.
- Identifies non-conforming shipments and dispoisitions in accordance with QS-9000 standards
- Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands, using banding machine and clincher.
- Could potentially handle hazardous waste in containerizing, transporting, testing, or other assigned duties.
- Any other tasks as required to fulfill Lincoln Industries' Beliefs and Drivers.
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Expected: Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, or certificate; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Communication Skills:
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
- Must verify shipping documentation and communicate verbally with customers, dock personnel, etc.
- Must be able to read road signs and follow destination maps.
Other Skills:
- Corrected vision and dexterous use of both hands.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds.
- Must be able to sit continuously for up to 2 ½ hours.
- Must be able to read and comprehend road maps.
- Licenses: May need a valid CDL – class A license (depends on assignment). Must possess of a valid Driver’s License.
