As emissions regulations result in an increase in engine exhaust temperatures, there are negative effects on chrome as well. Nevertheless, the demand for superior aesthetic finishes remains, creating a dichotomy in the industry.
Until now.
With the launch of NeverBlue™ technology, Lincoln Industries can now provide its customers with a highly cosmetic finish that withstands high temperatures and prevents the “bluing” of chrome. More than a simple coating, NeverBlue™ is a unique combination of processes that prevents chrome finishes from discoloring at high-temperatures. It is currently being used by Lincoln Industries' OEM and aftermarket customers in the heavy-duty truck market. NeverBlue™ is also being evaluated for other applications and is in testing with additional customers. According to Hank Orme, Lincoln Industries' President, “NeverBlue™ technology is a game changer for the heavy truck industry. It's the first technology of its kind, and it allows us to offer our customers an entirely new solution to an industry problem.”
Darren Parker, Director of Truck Aftermarket at Lincoln Industries, agrees. He believes the NeverBlue™ technology gives its aftermarket product line, Lincoln Chrome, a distinct advantage in the marketplace.
“No other source has this sophisticated or effective of a solution. Anyone who wants to preserve the quality of their stacks and keep their truck looking sharp can now turn to us for the answer. We already have the best looking stacks in the industry. Now we can make sure they stay that way, even with higher exhaust temperatures,” said Parker.
The development of NeverBlue™ technology is yet another example of how Lincoln Industries’ adherence to its Integrated Finishing Services™ philosophy produced a breakthrough success. With a thorough understanding of all facets of performance and how to maximize the effectiveness of the end product, Lincoln Industries was able to find an answer to a challenge that many thought was impossible. Had the company only focused on one dimension of finishing, naysayers may have been proven correct. Fortunately, however, Lincoln Industries viewed the challenge from all angles and employed a combination of technologies throughout the process, leading to NeverBlue™. The first technology of its kind, NeverBlue™ will continue to rapidly expand into other applications at Lincoln Industries. Look for more news in the future regarding this exciting development.
