Ceramic Line Expansion

Lincoln Industries is proud to announce an expansion of its ceramic line of finishing processes. Lincoln Industries first added ceramic finishing to its line-up of polishing, plating and metal finishing services three years ago to coat the inside diameter of exhaust tubes for semi trucks and heavy machinery. This process was developed to provide corrosion protection for these interior surfaces and to help preserve outer layers of chrome by using the ceramic layer as an insulator.
Now, the ceramic finishing option has been expanded to include similar coatings on the outside of an ever-increasing number of products. In the words of Matt Nyberg, Lincoln Industries Vice President of Business Development, “If we can see the surface, we can coat it.”
Nyberg pointed out spray coating the outside of products uses a new production line and a wider range of materials than interior coating. “But the big three benefits are still the same,” Nyberg emphasized. “The ceramic finish is designed to prevent corrosion, provide abrasion protection and to make materials colorfast under high temperatures.”
The ceramic line expansion was prompted by requests from multiple customers for a high-temperature finish that could be applicable for motorcycle, heavy truck, agricultural and construction equipment components.
“Demand for the new process,” said Nyberg, “has been driven by increasing exhaust temperatures required of original equipment manufacturers to meet new regulations governing diesel engines. These changes cause engines to run hotter, which creates problems with color fading and corrosion. Our ceramic process not only protects those products from corrosion, but keeps them looking good at high temperatures.”
